Replica of our wedding!

A couple of weeks ago, I got a call from the fiance of one of my husband's high school friends.
It turns out she wanted to informed my that her wedding was going to be a copy of ours, and she wanted me to know this before I was at the actual wedding site. She is not a very nice girl, and she is always trying to find ways to have what other people have. She's been beggind her fiance (now husband) to buy her a house, right in the same condominium we live. Before their engagement, she explained how her ring had to be bigger and better than mine, and another friend. She is pushy and a huge control freak when it comes to this poor guy!!
Back when we were setting our guest list, we had decided to not invite those that had a significant other, just those that were married could take their spouse, but in this case we did invite them both cause she is somewhat of a controller and it was a fact that if we didn't invite her, he was going to "make up an excuse" and not come to our wedding.
Well, it turns out my dream wedding, the wedding that I planned for months and got to have, was her dream wedding too.
We got engaged last december, and they got engaged a month after. Even when our engagement was of only 5 months, and theirs for 8 months, I guess we both started planning our wedding at the same time, but we never talked about anything related to it.
Her first look at my wedding was, well, on our actual wedding date.
We had an outdoor ceremony, my bridesmaids wore the same dress color. We had a civil and religious ceremony. Our wedding colors were purple and lime green. We had a chocolate buffet, we made ourselves the centerpieces, and all the ideas and things that happened at our wedding were our ideas, my family did all the decorations according to what we requested them to do, nothing copied, nothing traditional, our dreams.
Well, they had other plans, but it turns out, that as soon as she saw that dreams do come true, and my wedding was her dream, she decided to change plans. So 3 months before their wedding she asked that everything be changed in order to copy our wedding.
They changed venue, they decided to have now an outdoor ceremony, also with a civil and religious ceremony. Their wedding colors were lime green and gray.
She called to asked where we had our centerpieces done, and who did our decorations. Kinda hard to copy these things since we did them ourselves, not someone in particular.
Anyways, their wedding was this past saturday and I was feeling pretty anxious cause I wanted to go and see what her finally product looked like.
Things started a little different for each wedding. For days before our wedding it rained non stop, but the day before and the day of the wedding it didn't rain at all, well theirs was a totally different story. It rained non stop days before, and still the day of the wedding. I even felt so sad for both of them. It was a complete thunderstorm, it started raining since noon, and it didn't stop until the next morning. All the chairs and tables were soaking wet. The "outdoor" ceremony was flooded, with mud all around the ceremony and reception area.
The groom was running around like crazy, minutes before the ceremony trying to figure out what to do with all the water that was accumulating around the chairs and tables. And because of all the rain, the reception area was no were near ready, because there were only two people decorating, and their first concern was to get all the water out, the place clean before setting everything up again.
Ceremony started right on time, with a wet and mudding bride, and a groom exhausted from all the worring around. Their DJ came in late, so there was no music or sound for the ceremony part of the wedding. And for some reason the audio was set all wrong, so all night, we were able to only hear half of each song he played.
The organization was ran her entire family, and they all had different ideas on when to take pictures, when to serve the food, when to cut the cake, which led into some guest leaving without having nothing to eat or drink after being at the reception for more than 4 hours.
By the end of the night, people were leaving, no one had dance or eaten, and the bride and groom were running around trying to get water out of some areas so people could at least sit, going out to buy drinks cause there were not enough, and having to apologize for not having enough for everyone.
While sitting around and looking at all this mess, knowing of all the money these guys spend to mimic our wedding, with a not so good result; my wonderful husband looks at me and with a kiss on my cheek says "Honey, even when they tried, they couldn't even copy a single thing from our wedding. There is nothing like the original. Nothing compares to all the hard work and dedication you put to making our wedding unique and different, thank you for everything". I was so happy!!!
I was glad to be the one on the other side of the party. I was glad that all the hard work and the exhaustion that I felt days before our wedding were so worth it. While looking at all they had done to mimic our wedding, and the money we knew they had spend compare to what we spend, I knew all along that it is better to go with your instincts and not push things or ideas in order to achieve something that may not turn out the way you wanted. Just cause we did it, it doesn't mean that other can do it the same exact way!
